Continental Airlines from NY to Delhi
I see that Continental has a non-stop flight from Newark to Delhi. I would appreciate any comments from people who have taken it. Seems appealing with no long layovers and changes.

I have never taken this, but yes, it's a non-stop. About 13.5 hours flight time going, 15.5 coming back. The flight is doing good business, so expect pretty full plane. One of the main problem is that it arrives DEL pretty late (8:15pm), so there's few connection possible. You'll need to overnight at DEL if you're going somewhere else.

i have done their non stop to beijing and it was fantastic so i am sure this is similar....
what can you say about a non stop of this length of time....no matter what it will be terrible, but once you've done it it is done with and you can enjoy your time there...

I took this flight last December and enjoyed it, and I was coming off the Honolulu- Newark non-stop to join it! 35 hours total! clean plane, nice FAs, three meals, I think, and decent arrival/departure times.

The Newark/Delhi Continental fight is great. I took it last December and slept 8 hours each way. I was in business class which was quite nice. I walked back through coach and it looked fine. The planes are new 777 long range and the food is great.

DL announced the JFK-BOM service 8 days ago. It has not been reported here.
It's a replacement of DL's CDG-BOM service, and I am interested to find out if the return flight can make it back to JFK in the winter without a fuel-stop or not. Its flight time should exceed CO's EWR-HKG to become the longest twin-engine commercial flight (timewise) in the world.
Air India's has ordered new long range aircrafts to do US non-stop, and CO's Indian rep said they'll start doing EWR-BOM and Bangalore when they start receiving the 787 in 2009. This is a very fast growing market.

It doesn't look like Jet Airways will be starting their US service anytime soon...there were some issues with security. Although they tried to overcome this by taking over Air Sahara, the deal seems to be on the verge of falling through. A shame, since Jet operating a flight to US might have resulated in better to competition and lower prices.
