Connecticut GTG - Sunday May 21st at Noon - New Thread with all the Details in One Post
The first ever Connecticut GTG will be held at the RiverCity Grill at the Hartford/Windsor Airport Marriott. The Marriott is located at exit 38 off I-91 north of Hartford. There is plenty of free parking. Complete directions can be found on the hotel web site:
http://marriott.com/property/propert...WT_Ref=mi_left
The event will start at noon on Sunday May 21st and go until about 3 or so. There is a fairly diverse a la carte lunch menu (soups, salads, sandwiches, etc.) and bar service.
Don't miss this great opportunity to rub elbows with the legendary RHKKMK, Gpanda and other Fodorites coming from as far away as Virginia. Current head count is 11 or 12 and we welcome anyone else who can attend. There is a section of the restaurant with plenty of room that has been set aside just for us.

Does anyone know of any public transportation from NYC to Hartford? I'd love to join you, but our car will be on it's way to Santa Fe with my husband in it on the 21st of May. I would love to meet you all. I Googled it, but the information was confusing. Cheers, Sharon

Amtrak goes from Penn Station in NYC to Hartford or Windsor. Taxis are plentiful in Hartford but I'm not sure about Windsor where the station is 3 miles from the hotel. You can find the schedule on www.amtrak.com
If you are coming for the day, there is a train that leaves Penn Station at 9 AM and gets into Hartford at 11:29 AM. You would have to switch trains at New Haven. For your return, there are trains that leave Hartford at 3:23 PM and 6:01 PM. Hope this helps.

Thank you...that's perfect! I had been looking at MetroNorth and buses - didn't think of amtrak. I have to check one more item on my schedule, but all in all, I think I can make it. I'll let you know for sure, but for now, please count me in. This is exciting!

The train is a great way to get from NYC to Hartford....(Having done both as a student at NYU, I can tell you the train is way more scenic and nostalgic!) Looking forward to meeting all of you next month.

The NYC>Hrtfd train is more comfy than the bus but the bus is considerably less time (2.5 hrs.) and significantly cheaper as well. You can take CT Limo from the Hrtfd bus/train station to BDL as well as a cab. When all is said and done it might be easier, cheaper, and quicker to rent a car.
