Clubs/Bars Bangkok
Gosh I love this forum! You guys are all so helpful and 99.9% of my question I'v ebeen able to find answers to without posting. Yay!
I do have one more question though that I cannot find an answer to... My boyfriend and I are gping to be in BKK in about 10 days. I have just about got the daytime clothing sussed (thanks!), but now I am wondering about evening wear. What do people wear i the clubs/bars in BKK at night? Is it very trendy? Are skirts ok (just above the knee?) what about tops, is low a no-no? Are jeans acceptable? I have some linen short/collote type things (just past knee length), would they be ok? I think this might be one for the girls...but a boys perspective would be good as I can pass it on to my fella! Thanks. |
Some places such as Sirocco/Sky Tower have fairly strict dress codes. Others are fairly casual.
You should be ok with what you described. There are many young ladies in Bangkok that wear short skirts and low cut tops, although they are quite possibly "for sale", if you get my drift. I would suggest that your boyfriend bring a pair of docker style pants and a nice shirt. He should also bring a pair of closed toed shoes other than tennis shoes to get into some of the trendier places. Enjoy your trip! |
You'll feel most comfortable in less revealing clothing. Skirts just above the knee are fine. Jeans are aceptable at casual places. Do note that most people who live in North America or Europe would be unable to tolerate how hot jeans would be in Bangkok. But if you are accustomed to SE Asia heat and want to wear fashionable jeans to a club, go ahead. We saw Singaporeans in Bed Supperclub wearing jeans.

If you want to truly fit in with the local ladies, then wear your tops two sizes too small. That's what the girls do to look "hot" in their school uniforms. :-)

bkk is very casual...clubs/bars don't demand much....some places do not like sandals, so have some shoes or slides
jeans are fine at most places... |
Thanks for the replies. I think I have it covered now. Actually quite pleased with myself at my compact packing :-)
