climate in November
 

I am considering a tour to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia next November. What is the weather like? I don't like humidity.

Ha ha ha, not meaning to laugh but if you do not like humidity, stay out of the asian jungle, and even northern Vietnam could be very humid depending on when the monsoonal/hurrican season ends.

November is close emough to the nominal period that does have some variation by region, but a couple of years ago there were massive dumps of rain and flooding through October, maybe even into November.

You could use www.worldclimate.com as a guide to what happens on average re rainfall in particular months and humidity always hangs about a couple of months or so after the wet season and doesn't disappear too much at all further south towards the equator.

don't know about the northern countries but in Cambodia, the humidity drops quite a bit by the end of November. Last year in early december I was wearing long pants and a jacket early in the morning; of course by noon I was back in my shorts. :)

Vietnam can get <i>tons</i> of rain in Novmeber, esp the coastal areas, see weatherbase.com and other sites. They had some very bad flooding this past November in Hanoi and other cites, see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7710105.stm for details. This is not really unusual for the fall months for Vietnam.

I wold agree that if you don’t like humidity, SE Asia is not really the place for you (altbough Hong Kong in November is great!! Just don’t come in say June….)

Yes, but at other areas like Hue, at 25.5 inches for November, Dong Ha at 15.5 inches, Than Thuy ay 17 inches. Hue is a very popular tourist spot, that is what I was thinking of mostly.

I didn't explain myself properly. What I don't like is humidity with heat. The tour company arranging this trip says that from experience this is the best time to go because it is cooler and there is less rain??? comments

I would say, more accurately, that it is less hot in Nov-Dec-Jan. &quot;Cooler&quot; is not a descriptor I'd use, especially for Siem Reap. It will be hot and humid. Perhaps less hot and humid than at another time of the year, but it will be hot.

By the way, do some reading here - you can arrange your own trip to any/all of these countries on your own for less money and do exactly what you'd like.

I usually do prefer to travel on my own, but this is a special tour with emphasis on art which is what I want.

A few years ago I was looking for a place in Asia that was not Japan, for a change, and used weather as the deciding factor. I chose Vietnam, but not the middle part!

The weather in Hanoi was nice (avg Nov high of 76F) and it was warm enough to swim at Halong Bay. HCMC was a bit hot (avg Nov high of 87).

Those floods in Hanoi this November were a result of Vietnam's &quot;worst rain in 35 years&quot;.
