chumphon Ko samui
can anyone recommend hotels quiet not full of nightlife and bars, where we can sit and relax. we are going in middle of May for two weeks.
|
For Samui you have a very largte range. Chaweng and Lamai are the busiest beaches. Bophut is a good choice as quieter but you can get easily to Chaweng when you want a busier place.
For recommendations we really need some idea of budget. Some people may be looking for soemthing for $40, others for $400. It is better if you can give us an idea, also whether you want resort hotel, boutique style or whatever. For Chumphon it depends if you plan to spend some days in the area or are just passing through, as that can decide where you stay. Chumphon Cabana is north of town, 3 star range on the beach, diving available. There is the luxury Tusita and the Novotel but both quite a way from Chumphon town. If it's an overnight between catching a ferry then you are limited to 2 star range, Jansom, Paradorn and others if it's for a nightstop between ferry and bus/train etc. |
If you are going to rent your own scooters or a jeep, then you might like Crystal Bay Resort. Do a goodle search for Crystal Bay Samui and you will see pics. It has its own beach. There is a restaurant on site. It gets great reviews. Definitely quiet.

Should have added that DS has stayed at Crystal Bay a number of times over the years. It is just recently remodeled. The "big suite" is awesome, and lots of room. Check reviews for other opinions.

our budget is around $100 per night. we are planning 6 nights Chumphon and 8 nights Ko Samui.

I honestly think 6 nights in Chumphon is way too much, I would say perhaps 2 or 3 days north at the Cabana or even further north at Baan krud / Bang Saphan or Koh Talu island.
http://www.r24.org/beachsiam.com/hua...sland/details/ Koh Talu Island would be fine for R&R and beach and 'rest', do appreciate that Chumphon town is a provincial town, the Cabana is 'ok' but I would rate Koh Talu Island 'way ahead' of the Cabana. Then spend say 4 nights on Koh Tao or Koh Phangan, Koh Tao if you want to snorkel. If you are into Golf 'possibly' the Novotel ( south of Chumphon itself ) might be 'ok' but it is on it's own and almost nothing to do. |
anirac - this is a very simple map but lays it out in a very easy way:
http://www.lomprayah.com/E/route.htm Ban Saphan area / Koh Talu is north of Chumphon, difficult to say prtecise time as you have to drive from the coast to the highway and then south to Chumphon. These a some rough journey times by road BKK-Hua Hin: 2 hrs 30 to 3 hrs HH - Bang Saphan: 2 hrs to 2 hrs 30 HH - Chumphon: 3 hrs to 3 hrs 15 Bang Saphan area to Chumphon town: about 1 hr 30 |
