Christmas Eve or Christmas lunch in Bangkok?
 

MY family (husband, 2 teenagers and myself) are spending Cristmas time in Bangkok. Any suggestions on where spend Cristmas Eve dinner or Xmas lunch in Bangkok will be highly appreciated.

many hotel restaurants offer special xmas eve and xmas dinners...

what would you like to eat?? thai? western?? other asian?? price??

personally i would go to biscotti for a delicious italian meal in the 4 seasons hotel....moderate to expensive

for a fabulous thai meal inexpensively i would go to harmonique

for vietnamese i would go to le delat indochine on soi 23, sukhumvit

supatra on the river opposite the grand palace is nice for thai also...

For a lovely Thai meal, I'd opt for Lana Thai at Face. While I have eaten at Harmonique many times over the years, I'd opt for a place that's a bit nicer (better service, cleaner) for a special meal.

We were in BKK for Chrismas in 2005 and we just ate nrmally at restaurants. If you want to do something special, eat at one of the high end places. There have been many various restaurant reviews on this forum. If you eat at one of the hotels, they vcan make your mneal very special. It all depends on your budget.

If you want a "normal"meal there are lots of options. If you want a meal that celebrates Christmas go to one of the hotels -- I know the Oriental does a wonderful XMAS eve dinner with lots of stuff for kids and I'm sure other hotels do also.

Depending on where you are staying (especially the high end places) the hotel may put on a special dinner which you are charged with whether you go or nor. With the 4 of you it might become quite expensive to pay for two dinners.

Try the buffet at the Sukhothai Hotel.

We had dinner on Xmas night at Mahanaga, a Thai fusion place off Sukumvit Rd about in 2003 (the day before the Tsunami). The meal was one of the best I have eaten in Bangkok (although some on this board that have visited more recently have not been so impressed). I would choose a table outdoors in the courtyard where they play great jazz. I ssem to remember paying around 6000baht for 2

We are staying at the Marriott. We do not want to go to a the most expensive restaurant, but we would like to have a memorable dinner.

the rice mill restaurant at the marriott would give you a very nice chinese meal...

tongue thai (directly behind the oriental hotel is a small good thai place and harmonique is not far off...

all of the riverside hotels have great offerings...

Koi restaurant for dinner...Sukumvit soi 24 I think it is...You can Google it. I took two Thai friends there for Christmas Eve dinner last Christmas Eve. Not that it mattered that it was Christmas Eve, the country is Buddhist, but I chose it for my Christmas Eve dining experience. We all loved it. Plus, the restaurant is architectually beautiful. Kathie...It's Japanese, but California Japanese style. The original Koi is here in L.A., but I've never been because it's so expensive. But, the Bangkok prices were fine. It was very good food and the atmosphere was so relaxing. They're only open for dinner unless things have changed. It's right across the street from a GREAT vegetarian restaurant that I eat at called Tamarind Cafe...owned by a young French woman from Lyon. The food there is delicious,too. They're famous for their vegetarian mushroom steak with gravy which is unbelieveably good. Happy Travels!
