chinese visa
 

It's been a while since I've been on these boards but am hoping someone may be able to help with Chinese visa questions.

I am doing a trunk show on a cruise ship, booking confirm came very last minute, I leave for Hong Kong in 12 days. Over a month there are 5 stops in China. I am living in Florence and don't have time to get my passport back to the states for a visa. I looked online but I am confused about the info re: getting a visa in HK for Mainland China.

It seems I can get a double entry visa but not a multiple. I am going to go to Chinese console here but I am thinking since it's a US passport not know if they can help w/ multiple entry. I also have a Hungarian passport but don't know if it's doable or even legal to get a double entry visa in my US passport and also one in my Hungarian passport while in HK which would give me 4 entries of the 5 I need.

Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Unless things have changed very recently, all Chinese tourist visas for US residents recently have been multiple-entry visas, with a 2-year validity.

Sorry, forgot to add: you can certainly get a Chinese visa in HK. You (or an agency, if you want to pay for it) can take your passport to the visa office, come back in a day or so, and the visa will be available.

The Hungarian passport might be better option, anyway. You might also want to check to see if Hungarian passport holders are eligible for visa-on-arrival. Also, I would not be at all surprised if Hungarian passport holdrs pay a lot less for the visa than do US passport holders.

thanks rizzuto! so are you saying it IS possible to get a multiple entry visa in HK? Just clarifying

Hi, I am a US passport holder living in HK for about 9 months and have applied for Chinese visas twice and been granted only the double entries each time (although I tried for the multi entry). In talking with friends, this seems to be the norm, although if you have an itinerary / documentation that you need a multi entry, perhaps it will be granted.

business is only at sea so has nothing to do with the visa
i checked that, i travel as a guest passenger so it's the
tourist visa i need

tourists can get landing visa valid for 15 days, which can be extended at request.
