China visa gettable in Taiwan?

Can I, a UK passport holder, get a visa for China in Taipei?

I don't belive it would be possible, as China does not have any official dipmlotic relationship with Taiwan, i.e. an embassy or consulate, so visas cannot be issued. The PRC regards Taiwan a province of the PRC, so do not recognize it as an independent nation requiring diplomatic ties. To the best of my knowledge, you cannot even fly non-stop between the two but have to transit through Hong Kong or another country where you should be able to get a PRC visa. (Although Hong Kong is technically not another country, there is a PRC consulate there which isues visas.)

You might take a look at the website for the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs athttp://www.fmprc.gov.cn/ for information.
