China Tours rainy season

Does anyone know when the rainy seaon is in China, my wife is worried that we will be caught in a flood?

Has anyone toured with Grand Circle? Comments?

Thanks,
herbw

China is a BIG country, bigger than the United States. Flood is a natural disaster which does not occur every year or on a certain month. It is more related to the world weather pattern, i.e. el Nino and la Nina. Tell you wife just relax. If there is a flood in one area, I am sure the tour operator would switch the itinerary.

I can't speak to the rainy season in China, but I can highly recommend Grand Circle. We've taken nearly 20 trips with them and currently have three more scheduled -- to Thailand in January, Spain in March, and France next fall. We went to China with them a couple of years ago and had a great time. If you'd like a copy of my journal for the trip send me your e-mail address and I'll get it to you. Happy travels!

Doc,
We are planning a trip to China in April with Smartours. Will travel to 3 cities and sure would like to read your journal about your trip! Could use some advice about what to see, where to shop, good buys, etc. We are specifically wondering about electronics since our camera gave out--are camera prices any better there than here in the states? Thanks!!

Suggest that you check out Pacific Delight Tours ... they are the number 1 tour operator from the US to China and the Orient. They have a great reputation for value (due to their purchasing power) and quality. Pacific Delight was the first to offer tours form the US to China when diplomatic relations were established in the 1970s. They are the best ... I recommend them without hesitation, and my wife used to be thier director for marketing.

There web site is www.PacificDelightTours.com, and telephone number is 800-221-7179 to order brochures. Their brochures are beautiful (e.g. China Experience brochure and Regal Yangtze River Cruise brochure) and have many variations (from deluxe to budget) on the Yangtze river. They use Victoria Cruises and Regal Cruises for the Yangtze River and due to their volume, have better rooms and service.

Fee free to e-mail me if you have questions or need more information.

Andrew
I would like to join the group who would like a copy the "much in demand" JOURNAL!
Please and Thanks,
Cheryl

I would like to second the recommendation for Pacific Delight Tours. I just got back from a six night tour of Beijing with them and all the arrangements, the tour guide, and hotel were excellent. On top of that, the tour was incredibly cheap.

Martha

Gee, but it is annoying to find repeated advertisements posted by Margaret White. Most boards do not permit ads.

So what is the rainy season in China?

katie Nov 13th, 2001 03:32 PM

We were in China for almost a month--May to June 2001. The Yangtze cruise portion of the trip took place during the beginning of the "rainy" season (June). I would suggest checking one of the weather sites for historical weather data. China is such a large country (only Russia and Canada are larger) that general weather statements aren't going to be accurate.
We toured with Overseas Adventure Travel (Grand Circle is their parent company) and had a wonderful time and would travel again with them anytime.
