My sons, 11 and 13, loved China. I thought it was great for them to experience such a different culture.

Marija,
I am planning a trip to Beijing this spring and your trip report has been most helpful. I am caucasion and will be travelling with my Japanese American husband and would like your opinion of what sort of treatment we might encounter given your tour guides unsolicited hatred of the Japanese. Do you think the opinion was just of these particular guides or is that opinion still widely held in a modern city such as Beijing? Thank you ...

pmd2524: Where does your tour take you to? Beijing rivers/lakes will be frozen and southern cities will be quite warm, so bring layers and a warm coat.

11-year-old is a good age to be a young group traveller, there will be much to keep her interested and entertained.
