China Interior flights or trains

I am thinking of extending a tour an extra week and taking a trip on my own from Shanghai to Guilin and then flying back to SFO from there if possible. Where can I find info on flights Shanghai-Guilin or train connections? Anyone know?

Reliable English-language online sources for Chinese domestic travel are hard to come by, but there are four daily trains from Shanghai to Guilin, taking between 21 and 24.5 hours, and around five flights a day, taking around 2.5 hours.

Whether train or plane, the tickets should be booked when you are in Shanghai.

I just found flights on Expedia. ((*))

Expedia does not have information on most Chinese domestic flights, and its prices are much higher than you need to pay (sometime three or four times higher).

So where can navgal find info on flights between Shanghai and Guilin that are cheaper than those posted on Expedia? ((*))

This has already been answered.

Some indication of the real prices for domestic flights can be found on www.ctrip.com, www.elong.com, and a few other Chinese sites, but not until close to the time of flying.

Prices for rail tickets bought on-line through English-language sites can cost as must as 70% more, and local stations or local agencies with computers on the railways' system should be the point of purchase.
