China in November
 

I would like to know if any of you, Fodorites, traveled to China in the first half of November. I have an oppportunity to go on a tour with Laurus travel but seems that it may be too cold and too wet to visit Bejing, Great Wall, Yangtzee River, Shanghai this time of the year. <BR>What do you think? <BR>Would you go if your grandmother wanted to go and she paid for your trip too?

I've traveled to Shanghai in the early part of November and I think it's the perfect time to visit. Only experienced a few brief, light showers. Beijing can be much cooler but not unbearably cold. I would definitely go!

Well, I've lived here for 3 Novembers!<BR><BR>November can be cold, particularly in the North, but it shouldn't be too wet, and you have the advantage that there will be fewer tourists on the Great Wall.<BR><BR>You can find average temperatures on www.weather.com (travel, vacation planner, option 2, best time to visit).<BR><BR>Also, the Chinese government just announced that they will be starting to move people out of the Yangtzee area in 7 months (so that they can start the flooding, so that no more cruises will be possible).<BR><BR>I would go! PARTICULARLY if someone else were paying!!

I've in Beijing in November, it was windy and quite cold, not very cold. <BR>How old is your grand mother? Is she fit for long walk? Make sure she bring her medicine - Chinese medicine is not very pleasant.<BR>

Thank you for your suggestions. We decided to leave on October 29. <BR><BR>As to my grandma she is 74 and in much better shape than I am. She hikes 3-4 times a week in the White Mountains, NH where she lives. She also swims everyday. So I think she won't have any problem walking.

Meena,<BR>I reckon that if your grandma hikes in the White Mountains, cold won't be a problem for her either.
