China Hotel Suggestions Please
 

Can anyone recommend 5 or 4 star hotels in Xi'an, Chengdu, Nanjing and Suzhou that are centrally located? Location is important since we only have a limited amount of time. We're also not looking to break the bank but are looking for a great experience since we may not be able to return for a long while. Many thanks for your help.

Xi'an - Sofitel. Best hotel in town, right in city center.

Suzhou - Sheraton. Beautiful low-rise buildings. Next to city wall. [Most new highrise hotels are outside old city.]

For Xian I'd encourage you to look at the Bell Tower Hotel. It's literally in the center of the city at the main square and has been renovated in the last couple of years. The breakfast buffet there is excellent, rooms clean, and pretty fair English spoken. I'm not familiar with the
Sofitel, though.
