China Connection Tours?

Any experiences to tell about with China Connection Tours? I have not heard 1 response yet in almost 2 weeks.

THanks.

Pacific Delight Tours is outstanding. Just returned from China. Everything was first class.

sssteve,
Great trip report. Questions..
Would China connections make plane reservations from the US?
How many people were in your tour group? Would you recommend taking a tour including the Yangtze river or do the trip entirely by land? Thanks

sssteve,

Fantastic report! I have to read it again. My husband & I are visiting China Oct 5-20th of this year. I didn't get any feedback on China Connections for a while but after reading your report, I have all the confidence to book with them. Thanks!
I would like to book 2 of the hotels on my own, doesn't seem like I will have a problem, does it?

flagal2:

I have no idea if China-connections will make air reservations for you from the states, but they are a full fledged travel company, and I don't see why not. On the other hand, I would sooner use a travel agent in the states who knows how to get the best deal in the states.

Regarding the Yangtze river, we weren't there, so I don't have an opinion. We did the Li River near Guilin and enjoyed it very much. There are quite a few threads here on Fodors about the Yangtze river cruise. Do a search and you'll get plenty of opinions.

You shouldn't have any problem getting hotels on your own, although there is one problem. Many, if not most of the hotels do not have their own web site and rely on reservation services, of which there are many. Many (but not all) of these reservation sites require payment in advance. I used "directrooms" in Thailand and I was very pleased with them.

sssteve: thanks for all your feedback, I enjoyed reading your report. My husband & I booked our travel with China Connections for October. They arranged everything for us with the exception of 2 hotels - in HK & Shanghai (our choice) and our airfare to & from China. They are great and we are very excited about our trip!

where to :

I'm glad to hear that. If you aren't aware of it, the home base of China-connection is in Xian. Our guide in Xian (Cici) worked directly for the company. With whom were you in contact with via email?

sssteve,

I was in contact with a gentlemen named Eric. They have been great! We are leaving 3 weeks from today. Very excited---I'll be re-reading your report for a fresh perspective.
