Chiang Mai Trek

Can anyone recommend a good tour operator in Chiang Mai?

I am going on my honeymoon in August and spending 2 nights in Chiang Mai. I am looking for advice on recommended tour operators. Ideally we'd like to do a full day (but not overnight) trek that would involve riding elephants at some point and visiting a hill tribe village. I have read (and agree) that staying overnight is the only way to get a fully authentic experience, but unfortunately I just don't think we have the time.

Thans in advance for your thoughts and opinions!

We've used Sergeant Kai twice with good results. MAny others on this forum have as well. He can be reached at ChiangMaiTours.com. He is very responsive to specific requests.

Thank you, Gpanda. There seems to be a one day safari which would be perfect for what we are looking for!

He has set tours listed, but you can also customize days by corresponding. Be advised that any Hill tribe that is easily accessible by car will be relatively touristy. The only way to get an authentic Hill Tribe visit is to hike in overnight. My son did this with Sergeant Kai and was very pleased.

I will also agree with all of the above. We hired Sgt. Kai for a 5 day tour of Northern Thailand. He was a wonderful guide. His e-mail is [email protected]
We had 1 night in Chaing Rai-I had seen about the wonderful rooms with a private pool-I had him see if we could get an upgrade at the last minute-it was not that much extra and his friend got us a good price-The hotel was The Ledgend-pure bliss. If you do contact him tell him Chris said hi-He is a wonderful guide. I got him through this site. Chris

Thanks so much for the feedback! Do you definitely recommend booking the trek in advance?
