Chiang Mai Tour w/Sergeant Kai
My husband and I will be in Chiang Mai for 4 days the beginning of Nov. We are considering doing a 2 day tour with Ser. Kai. The first day we'll be seeing some highlights of Chiang Mai; elephant ride, bamboo rafting and 2 hour hike in Doi Inthanon Park.
On Day 2 he can take us to Chiang Rai where we'll go to Mai Sai, Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle. Both these days are approx. 12 hours. Can anyone tell me if Chiang Rai is worth the trip? Or should we consider seeing something else. Thanks! This is our first visit to Thailand. |
The ride to Chiang rai is three hours each way. I would not do that. I would see what other activities SK can recommend. We've used him twice with good results.

Gpanda, would you have any suggestions since you have been there.

Visiting the hill tribes can be interesting, but you must avoid the tourist trap villages. They are not worthwhile. Perhaps yopu could E-mail Sergeant Kai and ask him whether he can provide a non-touristy hill tribe visit. This will involve some significant walking.

Gpanda,
Serg. Kei has us hiking for 2 hours in Doi Inthanon Park where we end up at a Karen Village that he says is not touristy....is that what you mean? |
