Chiang Mai to Phuket
 

What are some possible ways to get to Phuket from Chiang Mai (considering cost, time, ease, etc.)?

Also, if I was deciding between Phuket and Ko Samui during Mid-July, which would be a better choice?

Thai Air has a direct flight from CM to Phuket around 11:00 a.m.. KS would probably be better in mid-July weather-wise.

In July Koh Samui weather would be better. Check Bangkok Airways website, they were running some direct from CM to Samui but not sure if it's seasonal or all year rouind, otherwise the Phuket non stop but you need to think about the weather. Otherwise it's routing through Bangkok. Therer are of course lots of other islands and beaches not as busy.

James is correct. Bangkok air flies Chiang Mai to Samui except for monday and wednesday. Cost 5070 baht.

flying would be the only choice, imo...

even if you had to connect in bkk, it would not be that bad...either thai or bkk air is the best bet...
