The night market used to operate every night. Then when the Sunday walking street started, I heard they stopped having the night market on Sundays, but do ask at your hotel/guesthouse.

Funkmonkey, would you mind sharing here the info that you sent to wkwb42a in January as I have the same interests for shopping like her (clothing, scarves, folk handicrafts, anything else that's unusual and not too big, "safe" that food, etc.)?

I also would love to have the contact info/ the phone numbers of both the tuk-tuk guy that took the 2 of you for a 5-hour stop-and-go shopping trip down the highway that leads to the Umbrella Village and for the taxi gentleman.

Thanks in advance.

Suzanne, I don't know if funkmonkey will return and answer your questions, but if he does not, be assured that you can easily hire a taxi to take you shopping (I prefer a taxi both because then there is a trunk to store your purchases and because you don't get as much exposure to the exhaust and dust in a taxi as you do in a tuk-tuk). Taxis all have posted rates for by the hour or for Doi Suthep. Tuk-tuks do not have posted rates and are very likely to charge you more than a taxi does.

Suzanna,
My husband and I hired a driver in CM. His name is Mr. Seart. His email is [email protected] and his cell # is +66(0)987478845.
He is a good driver, and his English is more than adequate. We recommend him. If you'd like, please read my TR. Enjoy your trip!
