Chiang Mai Hotels and places to visit
Hi,
Was wondering if you guys had suggestions for nice budget hotels in Chiang Mai. something ~1500 baht or less. Also, is it worth it to stay by the night market?
My girlfriend and I will be in Chiang Mai for a little over a week so we are open to suggestions for adventure type (hikng, biking, kayaking) and touristy sightseeing (temples, shopping, etc)
thanks

We loved 3 Sis
http://www.3sisbedandbreakfast.com/
It was very well located for the Sunday Night Walking Market which was one of our favorite things.
Cooking classes with Yui at A Lot of Thai is also a highlight.

Sorry, thought of another request, where do you think the best places to stay would that also would be easy for English speakers? Are most areas pretty safe during the day and night?
thanks again.

I really loved staying at the Tamarind Village in CM. I also did a fabulous cookery class with Chiang mai Thai cookery school. We went to the MAE SA elephant camp but to be honest I wouldn't do that again but it was ok at the time. Missed out on a trip to Doi Sutep and plan to go back to do that. I also quite liked just wondering around, but then it was Loy Kratong when we were there which is very special.

Doi Inthanon is the usual temple, on the hillside just overlooking CM. I also really like Doi Inthanon, which is about 1 hr and 15-20 minutes outside of CM. It is very close to the highest point in Thailand, and there is a pretty waterfall around there also. There are probably also some trails around there. I didn't do any hiking... just walked around seeing the highest point and the temple and the waterfall.
Doi Inthanon has some of the most beautiful gardens!

I really like The Peaberry hotel. The night market is a must and give it a try local food at the night market they're fantastic. I remember that there are many temples in the old town and most of them are beautiful, definitely worth a visit!
