Chiang Mai Cooking School
 

I will be leaving next week for my much anticipated trip to Thailand. I've spent hundreds of (enjoyable) hours researching and organizing this trip. I had arrnaged a private cooking class at A Lot of Thai for my husband and myself. They have just notified me that Yui will be out of the country. I am now looking for an alternate cooking school. I was considering
Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School;
Siam Rice Thai Cookery School;
Kaohom Thai Culinary cooking School and Baan Thai Cookery School for a (private) half day program.

I would appreciate any comments or recommendations that you might have about any of these.

Kao Hom is unfortunately now closed (has been for a few months).

I've only used A Lot of Thai and them...I'm sure others can recommend something for you though.

It's a shame. Taking a class with Yui truly is a highlight.

Had a great time at A Lot of Thai.

To clarify, I had booked A Lot of Thai last March - but they have just cancelled. (I know I would have enjoyed that). I am looking for another cooking school since Yui will not be available. I was thinking about Siam Rice Thai Cookery or Chiang Mai Thai Cookery. Does anyone have any experience with either of these - or any other.

hi - I've done two days with Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School (as well as 1 with Yui). Yui's class was great but as you say, not an option. But I did enjoy the chiang mai thai classes - they have two venues and I preferred the out of town one that Chiang Mai have but I think if you want to go to the market, you are in town. sorry I haven't heard of the others. CM offer lots of different days with different dishes so you can pick the day with the ones you like most.

you may want to ask yui if she can't be with you, who would she recommend

I did a half-day class with the Chiang Mai school several years back, and enjoyed it. We started with a trip through the market, and finished by eating our dishes. Some of the prep work had been done for us, but we did the actual cooking - much better than a class I had done in Bangkok, where we just watched.
