Chiang Mai accomodations
 

What is a good place to stay in Chiang Mai for about 30- 50 USD WITH a pool?....I just found out that Baan Orapin doesn't have one...

Amora Tapae ( used to by Rydges , 3 star) is about USD 48 but they also have this great stay 3 nights but only pay for 2 nights, also free airport transfer, so if you stay 3 nights it costs just about 96 bucks including tax/service/breakfast, so works out around USD 32 a night !

3 nights is what many would spend in CM so it's good value.

There are quite a few others but for location and that great 3 for 2 deal it's very good value

yes, no pool was my only problem with Baan Orapin. Owner Opas says they will have theirs in by October. If I were going back soon, I wouldn't tell anyone how wonderful this place is ;-)

Chiang Mai Plaza is in that price and has a pool. But personally I'd do without the pool and stay at Baan Orapin where I had one of the absolute best hotel experiences of my life.

I'm booking tina & Lucilla into the Amora Tapae for 1 week and am going to let them decide the second week when they get there...
I agree that the Baan Orapin looks fantastic and has excellent reviews all the way around. By comparison the AT is basic but the pool is a real sell. They are Brasilian so they know what tropical weather is like and a pool is pretty much mandatory. Maybe if we take another trip to Thailand we can stay at BO...

I think after a long hard day at their massage school they will want a dip in a cool pool! We have stayed at Amora Tapae in its previous incarnation as Rydges and it was fine - clean and no problems with service.

We combined tamarind village in Chiang Mai-city with a few days outside chiang mai, in the jungle (doing lot's of relaxing/enjoying beautifull views and all the nature things like waterfalls, elephant riding, mountainbiking etc.): check out www.baanrailanna.com.
