Chengdu and chongqing...which is better?

I only have two days and have to choose between chengdu or chongqing? Can anyone recommend one over the other? And give a few reasons! Thank you!

Chengdu has the pandas, Chongqing has WWII office of Vinegar Joe Stillwell. I liked both but for different reasons....can't choose one over the other.

Personally I prefer Chengdu but nothing much to rave about these 2 cities. Chengdu is good as an entry point to Jiuzhaigou and for very very spicy Sichuan food. Chongqing was the start of our 3 gorges trip before the water level rose.

Why do you have to go to either? Are you using either one as gateway to someplace else? The two cities are different - Chongqing is hilly, at the junction of two rivers; Chengdu is flat. Inside or close to the cities, more sites to see in Chengdu, pandas included. But Chongqing is also not too far from the excellent Dazu grottoes, if that interest you. Need more info.

I know my question was vague. I have to meet people for business, but will have a few days to explore. They gave me the choice as to where to meet. To be honest both cities seem underwhelming, I guess which one is easier to navigate alone? .

Lots to see inside Chengdu with significant historical importances. Plus the pandas. All easily get to by cheap taxis. I'd recommend Chengdu.
