Cheapest country in SE Asia?

Anyone return from recent trip to SE Asia?
Would like to hear your recommendations for
cheapest countries to visit?

The lesser-known islands in the Philippines are cheaper than Thai islands, in my experience (and are just as beautiful). Thailand does have other advantages, however, including the sights in Bangkok and a lower risk of being kidnapped!

Lonely Planet's website has a section on costs for every country in SE Asia, listing average prices for both meals and hotels, giving budget, mid-range, and high-end price ranges, as well as a cost-per-day estimate for budget travelers (for most destinations).

Thailand is probably best for combining budget travel with a decent level of comfort.

SE Asia is, in general, inexpensive, but Indonesia gets my vote for the cheapest.
