Chaing Mai Cooking Schools

Hi Fodorites
I am doing some research for a friend who will be travelling to Chaing Mai in August (having attended a wedding in Phi Phi island) and she would like to do some Thai Cooking Classes.
I have found some good reports on Kao Hom, A Lot of Thai and the Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School.
My friend is also interested in a school which teaches fruit/vegetable carving. Could anyone who has attended these schools give her some advice on which to choose or if they have attended more than one school some pointers on each.
Many thanks

We just returned from Thailand and did a half day class with A Lot of Thai. Yui is a wonderful teacher and we had a lot of fun. We highly recommend them.

There is a maximum of 8 students so it's small and intimate. She also does fruit/vegie carving. Check their website www.alotofthai.com.

My thanks kimberly. What did you learn to cook? Have you any photographs?
Thanks
Christine.

Pick up the May Gourmet mag at your news stand. Cooking schools from all over the world listed in the various articles. Several are in CM.

Kimberly-Will you tell me how much your half-day class cost? Thanks

Since we did a half day, we only cooked 3 dishes: pad thai, tom yam gung soup (sweet and sour prawn soup) and green curry with chicken. FYI-a full day covers 6 dishes.

We paid 700 baht per person plus it included a cookbook for each one of us and a trip to a local market.

Unless you book a private class, the menus are all posted on their website: www.alotofthai.com
