We chose this Centre Point because it's close to our son's apartment on Soi 12, convenient to the BTS station (which means easy access to shopping) & because their rates are excellent. Here is my son's reviews for places he looked at and visisted rooms.
1. Centrepoint soi 10: This place is great -- not as fancy as Emporium, but very quiet and comfortable. At the end of soi 10, very residential, about a 15 min. walk from our place on soi 12. Nice rooms -- similar to Emporium: separate bedroom, living room, kitchen, balcony. Staff are friendly and there's a 24 hr. shuttle to Sukhumvit. HOWEVER this place caters to Japanese businessmen and has ZERO nonsmoking rooms. The room I was in definitely smelled, and I bet most of them have at least a slight odor from past guests. Really a shame as this is a great place. Has a pool, restaurant, fitness center etc.
Cost: the Internet rate is 4200 baht (about $140) per day plus 5% tax for two weeks.

2. Admiral Suites: this place is a dump. Dark, dingy, not at all nice. And down soi 22, near Emporium, is a bit sleazy.
Cost: 3500 baht daily, but don't even consider it.

3. Imperial Queen's Park: also not very nice. Kind of run down -- you can never tell from hotels' Web sites! A huge place but a bit crumbling. Next to a nice park and not far from Emporium but really just not great.
Cost: 4400 baht daily, but I don't think you'd like it.

4. I haven't checked out Adelphi Suites, but I doubt you'd like this area -- Nana -- as it's a big red light district where all the strip clubs are.

5. I haven't checked out Sofitel Residence Asok.

Bottom line from what I can tell so far: Emporium is far and away the nicest, but at 10,000 baht ($326) per day, it's expensive. The location is great and it's super-nice though.

It is possible to stay at the Adelphi and avoid the Nana area. I have stayed right on soi 4 (Nana) and managed to stay away from it. The sidewalks on soi 4 can get crowded at night, for sure. They are narrow and are not only full of people, but also there are street food stalls.

Adelphi is not in Nana. It should be much quieter. I think it will be in an excellent location! I have been to BKK many times, and believe me, for me the issue of being close to the skytrain station is #1!!! Adelphi should be much closer to BTS than the apartments I've rented on soi 4 and soi 11. I don't like having to "hike" deep into a soi, to get to my apartment, when my hands are full of shopping bags.

I will gave my own report about the Adelphi in February. I'm really excited about finding a new "home away from home" in Bangkok.

i would say that nana, soi 4, to walk on and through is not bad in any way...all the "bad" activities are out of sight....

Pulley...What kind of apartment did you look into at Emporium for 10,000 baht? I have an 80 square meter apartment which I've always had and it's 6,600 baht. There are studios in 66, 80, or 90 square meters so one doesn't need to go into 1-bedrooms or larger. The average hotel room, I've found around town, is 35-40 square meters. So, I get a lot more space than what the average hotel offers and not an outrageous price compared to what hotels charge for the small space. There are a LOT of different sized/priced apartments at Emporium. Out of curiosity, before I left for BKK, I looked at sawadee.com's price of my same sized apartment and their price was $100. more, per night, than what I pay. I go directly through the building management. Happy Travels!

Imperial Queen's Park does look kind of run down. I can see the backside of the place from my terrace at Emporium and it doesn't look too promising. Happy Travels!
