Centre Point Soi 10 booking question
 

I think we are going to stay here for our April trip to Bangkok. Is it best to book from the hotel's web site, www.asiarooms.com or some other third party site?

Check the rates at the discount site, such as asiarooms or sawadee, then contatc the property directly and see if they have a better rate or will match the rate of one of the discounters.

There is no general rule for who has the best rates, it always pays to check them all.

Kathie, I wasn't concerned so much with the rate but how safe is it to use these other sites. Will my reservation be accepted by the property & will the rate be honored? Thanks

asiarooms and sawadee and agoda and such are safe; I've never heard of anyone not having a reservation honored. Do note that your rate at these services is not guaranteed until you get a confirmation. asiarooms is known for advertising very low rates at some places, but once you try to reserve, all the rooms at that price may be sold out. If the rate is good, try it, but don't hesitate to go elsewhere if they can't get you a good rate.

Do note that the online booking services do require a deposit and often full payment several weeks before. Making a reservation directly usually requires no prepayment. For me, if I can get a substantially better rate at a booking service, I use them. Otherwise, I go with a direct reservation.

i find them totally safe and usually the discounters include both tax and service (17.7% total) and breakfast....direct booking you have the 17% add on, which is significent

did you also look at their wireless location and they have a brand new location as well

Bob - we shall be in Bangkok at the end of January - I've seen the new Centre Point but can't work out quite how far this is from the skytrain. The maps I have seen just show Centre Point as a big blob across quite an area!!! Can you see anything more specific?

The location for the new Grande Centre Point is just a very short walking distance from the Ratchadamri sky station and in the same area as the Four Seasons and Hyatt. It has studios and 1 bedrooms only and is somewhat pricy compatred to othrt centre point properties.

I will also be in Bangkok in April, and while wanting some luxury, can't afford it for 9 nights, so would like advice on serviced apts.

Did you look at all the Centre Point locations? What made you pick this one?

For those familiar with these places, any recommendations as to which are best located for walking tours and/or closest to Skytrain?

If I splurge on the Pen for a few nights, is it easy to transfer here for the next week?

I looked at a map which seems to show that this Centre Point would be closest to the Nana BTS station. Soi 10 is just beyond soi 8, where I'll be staying next month, and Nana is just 2 minutes from my service apartment building.

I was replying to Janev's question as to where the new Centre Pointe (Grande) was located, not the Sukhumvit one.

I guess I didn't understand that you were talking about a different Centre Point. Sorry...

There are so many new places opening upt is hard to keep tract. The Adelphi Suites look great on the web sites and a terrific location. Enjoy

very easy transfer from one to the other....taxi would be best if carrying a suitcase, etc....but you could do the penn boat to the skytrain, having to lug your suitcase up one flight of stairs at the skytrain station....and probably down one flight at nana...

the majestic grande might be another alternative for you on soi 2 sukhumvit....

grand president might be another....the ascott properties are another....as said there are tons to choose from....oakwood is another....

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will follow up on them. Looks like several people are looking at Adelphi, which seems new close to BTS.

I've stayed at both Grand President and Majestic Grande. I would pick the Grand President, I think, over the Majestic. That is not to say that Majestic isn't a nice option. It is very nice. I would just rather stay at Grand Presidentin an apartment. If I were staying at a hotel, rather than an apartment complex, I'd opt for the Holiday Inn Bangkok (Ploenchit). Its location is really hard to beat!

Wow! So many choices. I've looked at all the websites and each has its points. I will say the photos of the newer places make them look more tempting and less dated. Now to look at the map and throw a dart! Thanks for the help everyone.

imo, the issue about newer is that often thai property is not kept up and the newer the place the better the condition that it will be in....also it probably will have more modern conveniences....not to say that it is any better.....
