Centerpoint Silom or Meritus Suites?

I am wondering which is the better and more convenient of the two serviced apartments for a family of 4 adults? Have anyone stayed in them before? Meritus Suites seems to be the new one but Centerpoint seems to be closer to the river. Please help me choose.

i have visited the silom centre point...it is very nice and well located...a two minute walk to the river....next to taskim skytrain stop and the shangri-la hotel....attached to a large dept. store with a huge grocery store in its basement...it is the oldest of the centre point apartments, but still very nice....their other properties at laung suan and wireless roads are nicer....the best we looked at was the marriott mayfair on laung suan, across the street from centre point...i will look up the location of meritus suites and comment...

i know the meritus building ...it is quite spectacular....i have not visited there....it is a slightly better location in some ways as it is at the corner of silom rd and new rd...silom has great shopping and restaurants...basically they are almost in the same neighborhood...i would think meritus might be nicer as it is newer...while centre point is in good shape it must be 5-10 years old and may not have all the latest conveniences...

Thanks very much. How can I find out the rates at the marriot mayfair laung suan? Is the location convenient compared to centerpoint silom?

location is a relative thing in bkk...it depends on what you want and need to do...both are excellent locations but in different parts of the city...

We just got back from BKK and stayed at the Meritus Suites three weeks ago. I am not aware of Centerpoint. Meritus Suites is located in the New State Tower, rising 63 stories near the River. Our room was on the 57th floor overlooking the river. The rooms are very nice, as they are brand new and ultra modern. There is a seperate living room in addition to the bedroom and the bathroom is huge. The location is a 5 minute walk to the Shangri-La, and the rooftop bar and restuarant was the best view I've ever seen. The downside may have been the concierge service, as I felt the hotel catered mostly to business people. Also, the taxis did not know where the hotel was, even after giving them a card of the hotel written in Thai. The gym is not open, so they only have a few pieces of equipment in a hotel room. I'd stay there again, for a $100 US night, including round trip airport transfers and breakfast, but after seeing the Peninsula, I'd probably spring the extra $100 for that hotel.
