Celebrity Millenium or Princess

If anyone can share advice I would appreciate it. I'm booking cruise, either celebrity Millenium Dec 2015 Singapore to Hong Kong 14 nights or Princess Cruise Singapore bro Fremantle, same dates. I'm a bit freaked out about the 1 1/2 day stop in Halong Bay with Millenium as I've heard the ship stops hours from anywhere, and you get easily ripped off with tour guides? There will be 4 of us.
Has anyone done these cruises or recommend some reputable tours, what to do etc? Thanks in advance

Exactly where does the ship dock?

We are planning a cruise with similarities, that is long distances from the dock, in this case about 2 hrs. to Bangkok and HCMC. I checked the port boards on cruise critic and Trip Advisor and found people with good reps and went f/w from there. You could try that or simply rely on a ships tour.

Which Princess ship are you thinking of? The Millennium is an older one in their fleet BTW.

It also depends on what kind of cruising you want. Celebrity tends to be a more mature crowd. They do not have. The zip lines, wave runners, all night parties. Princess is a younger group with all the bells and whistles. As stated above...in Asia , a lot of the ports of call are hours away from the city you are there to see. Ship tours tend to be pricey for what you get. You can join cruise critic and go to the roll call of the ship, once you have chosen, and passengers get together to make their own tours with local tour agencies and a lower price. Have fun.

Let us know what you decide and how it works out. There may be others looking for the same info.

Certainly we can recommend local agencies if you'd like to arrange a private tour.
