are you in SR right now, lori?

barefootbeach Jul 21st, 2010 01:45 PM

offwego,
We flew Cathay Pacific and I thought their service, food and comfort was very good. However, I just found out that I'm not getting the frequent flyer miles from their partner American from LAX to BKK and back from DPS as I expected because my low fare didn't qualify....I don't recall seeing that caveat when I first booked. So, read the fine print to see if you're getting frequent flyer miles.

rhkkmk Jul 21st, 2010 01:57 PM

that same thing happens with B/A and American often...

NeoPatrick Jul 21st, 2010 02:34 PM

I could be wrong, but I didn't think the fare makes a difference getting AA miles when flying BA, but the main issue is that if AA flies the same route then you won't get AA miles taking BA. Am I wrong on that?

rhkkmk Jul 21st, 2010 02:45 PM

neo that may be true, but in any case it is more restrictive than some other airlines and groups

I agree with Bisbee. Having flown both EVA (in Premium Economy) and Thai (in Business) twice now, I can say without reservation that the service is better on EVA.

The difference between the 2 PE products is probably negligible.

But the service from the FAs can be downright surly on Thai--like you owe them a debt of gratitude for flying on their airline.

EVA service has always been awesome.

I might just see you very soon. In Kampong somewhere or other right now. Two or three days may see me in Samot, weeping drunkenly, waiting for my food.

offwego Jul 22nd, 2010 04:12 AM

You know samot is an italian place now... The food does not suck, and now we have the benefit of not having to wait three hours for it, but well, it's Italian. ... I only tell you this because I don't want you having a conniption fit when you see the PIZZARIA sign out front.

Been to Abacus? Been to Toiuch? Been to the BBQ at Wat Damnak? Hmmmm?

Come to think of it, if you're in the mood to travel 1/2 hour into the countryside for some noodles, I'll take you to my favorite place for some Num Bahn Chok and Iced coffee but we have to get there by 11am.

Kristina Jul 22nd, 2010 05:49 PM

You know I will travel 1/2 an hour for noodles! Pretty please...

Smeagol Jul 26th, 2010 04:04 AM

Lori - as soon as i have flights/comfirmed dates i will email you.
Shame about Samot- it was on my list.

Smeagol Jul 26th, 2010 04:05 AM

Meant to add i am finding the EVA prices really expensive at the moment, hence the dithering over booking.

dogster Jul 26th, 2010 04:25 AM

Lori, can't make it. I'm staying away as a protest about Samot.
