Car and driver from Delhi

Does anyone have contact info. for a car and driver associated with a Delhi travel agency that you recently used? I contacted several from this forum but the emails were no longer valid, and Compass hasn't answered me. Also, do you have any Delhi hotel recommendations?

For a car service try:

Kumar Tourist Taxi Service
14/1 K- Block
Connaught Circus
Tel: 91-11-2341-5390
Fax: 91-11-2341-8859
Cell: 91-98-1143-1783
e-mail: [email protected]

I got their name from the Lonely Planet book some years ago, and last used them about 6 months ago, their e-mail should still be good. They are very reasonable and reliable in my experience for going around Delhi and for airport pickups. They can do longer trips as well although I have never used them for that so don’t have any idea of price. In Delhi, their price is like US$15 for day of touring.

With regard to the e-mail addresses you had for drivers, I don’t know if you sent more than one message, or how long you waited for a reply; power outages are not at all uncommon in India as you may know. Unless you received a bounce-back message it may simply take some time for your recipients to reply, so you may still hear back from them.

For hotels do you have a budget, hotels are just all over the map in Delhi in terms of price. You are also in high season for tourists so that will mean higher prices too. How long will you be there would be good info too, if just overnight between planes or a trip to Agra, etc, then I would stay in Gurgaon or Noida outside the city (not necessarily cheaper but easier).

Our Delhi office is located in Noida and I would not recommend it for you, as it it too remote from what you want to do and the traffic congestion is horrible.

We used Cox and Kings for all our travel in India . In Delhi we had an excellent driver and guide supplied by them . She was knowledgable and at our request took us to some excellent emporiums to shop .www.coxandkings.co.in
