Can I bring these gits back??

All of my employees want me to bring them either a "Rolex" or "Lousi Vitton" bag when I go to Bangkok next year. Can I get in trouble if I try to bring 10 of each back as gifts? Thanks.

Bringing a fake item or something that infringes trademark is an offence in most countries. If your gifts are clearly not genuine - say a cheap watch spelt 'Ralex' or something you should be ok, but something that is designed to deceive will probably land you into trouble.

You can bring one of each. One watch, one bag. [Not one "Rolex", one "Patek Philippe" and so on.]

Bringing 10 bags and 10 watches can get you in trouble with US Customs.

rkwwan is quite right.

I frankly can never understand why people want to buy fake items in Bangkok (or Hong Kong or elsewhere) when there are beautiful, genuine local items that are a real bargain.

Kathie, you are so right. The one time we were their we went to store (Emporium Mall???) that had all local goods. All our friends thought they were great. Strange how only my co-workers thought they weren't good enough. These were the same people who said I bowed dowm by saying "happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". The silk products in Bangkok are beautiful. You know what it's local or it's nothing. Thanks for reminding me.

You can buy copies on the streets of New York or on ebay. Why bother going around the world for that. Something unusual that is made locally would be very special.
