Cambodian Visa @ Airport
If you get your visa at Siem Reap airport do you need to have printed out and filled in the application form before arrival to save time or do they not want the form at that point? (In Kenya it saved lots of time to have the form already filled out so thought I would ask)
Thanks in advance J |

That had been the original intent to do it online however "life" over the past few weeks got in the way of trip organization and we leave at the end of next week and they say on the website at least 3 business days for processing so I was worried we may be pushing it!

Jules-no need to agonize. Just fill out the paprework on the plane and get in line. If you can, try to sit at the front of the plane. this will put you at the front of the line and save 15-20 minutes. But, even that's not a big deal.
The visa line is actually quite amusing. when you get to the front, you hand over the documents, including your passport and $20 US and then the "official" dressed in uniforms look at it and pass it down to the next official and so on. Eventually, after passing through 7 or 8 people, it's processed and you are admitted. I tried to figure out how there could be 7 or 8 different functions to be performed, but was unable. Have a great time. |
The Cambodian Visa process is quite simple. I even used a photocopy of my passport picture instead of buying pictures for the visa.

I agree with Gpanda that the agonizing is optional.
Go ahead and fill it out now and take it with you. If they accept it, fine, you have saved time (I think they would prefer it to be pre-filled and is probably what I did). If they don't accept it then just put it in your pocket and fill out the form there. |
Thanks all

I obtained my Cambodian visa on line yesterday. I completed the application around noon and received the visa at 7pm (even though the web site says it could take up to 3 business days). In fact, I got the receipt that my mastercard was accepted about 5 minutes before the actual visas appeared in my email.

Did anyone get passport photos ahead of time or can you get it (cheaply) in the Siem Reap airport? It's not exactly the kind of thing I want to lug around with me.

Regardless of whether you get off the plane first or last, what is the typical wait time for buying a visa at the airport? I'm thinking of spending the $25 to buy it online so I won't have to wait at all. Also, the 30 day period starts from when you arrive in Cambodia.

about 20 mins waiting for visa, hardly a hassle compared with the 3 hr queues we faced for bkk immigration! and the visa is really quite attractive!
photos - i landed up getting mine done at bkk, as i left 3 sets of photos back in the uk, one at my own house, one at my parents - after running into town on departure day, and another set in the car at the airport - after i had to stop on the way to the airport to get more! now i have plenty to choose from for my next trip! |
Lug around passport photos? They really aren't all that heavy or bulky! ;-)
Take the passport photos with you... much less hassle. If you don't have them, you may be held up at the airport while you get them. You need them for visa (Cambodia, Laos) and for your temples pass. It's one of those things I typically have with my travel documents, ready for the next adventure. |
I don't think there is a photo facility in Siem Reap airport. You enter from the airstrip and hit the visa counter straight away. Think small British station not large US airport!
