Cambodia Visa question?

I've read it twice, but I don't want to make a huge mistake....Can someone with experience please confirm. Is it true you can buy a ($20) visa at the Cambodian border or when you land in SR to visit Angkor Wat?

I am an American traveling to Thailand, and might spend 3/4 days in SR/Angkor Wat. I'd hate to get there and realize I misunderstood the visa situation.

If so, what do I need to provide them with at the border other than my passport? Thanks!!

You will also need one or two passport-sized photos. If you are crossing into Cambodia at a land border, make sure you read www.talesofasia.com first, so you'll be aware of the many possible scams. If you get your visa upon arrival at the airport, it's all very routine.

Thanks Kathie!

I got a visa on arrival at Siem Reap airport last January. I brought the two photos as Kathie mentioned.

If I were you I wouldn't take our word for it. Entry/exit requirements change.

Here is the info from the U.S. State Dept current as of June 15, 2005:

Just a note that a visa at the airport is 25US while at the land crossings it is 1000 baht. US dollars not accepted as payment for visa here.

Visas are available at the Thailand crossings at Poipet, Koh Kong and Pailin. I am not sure abour O'Smach and Anlong Veng. Also can be obtained at the Vietnam entry points at Chau Doc and Moc Bai.

Another note!
I am an American and I bought my ticket in Siem Reap at the airport this summer. Make sure you have small change ($20 bill, plus however much extra it is now). The officials "claimed" they didn't have change for a $50, but that changed after I held out for a few minutes. Also make sure the bill is in good condition. They don't like anything that has small rips on it. I would also try to have an old style bill and new bill. Some places aren't familiar with the new bills.
