Cambodia in April?

Hi All,

I have 2 weeks vacation in mid April and was looking at going to Cambodia.

I know this is the hot season and not the best time to go - but is it still OK?

I am from Australia and used to hot weather and would like to know- will the heat at that time be unbearable? Obviously we will spend time at Siem Reap and visit Angkor Wat- so there would be a lot of walking around temples.

If we went to the temples early in the morning and then back again late arvo/early evening - would this be OK.

Thanks in advance for your help

My first visit to Angkor was in April - the Khmer new year period in fact. It was very hot and humid - I was a little sick from the heat the first day, but it went away (and I live in Bangkok, so I should be used to it).

Get a hotel with a pool, so you can cool off after lunch and before heading out again in the lat afternoon.

April is fine, and as Wayne says, get to the temples at about 6 am for the sunrise, stay until about midday, return to your hotel and laze around the pool, and then get back again at about 3.30 pm and wait until sunset.

I stayed at the Bopha-Angkor which was cheap and cheerful and had a great pool - not large, but big enough and quite secluded.
