Calling from Vietnam

It's expensive! Does anyone have suggestions for how to call the US from Vietnam? We have an international phone but it's expensive to use. Can I purchase an inexpensive phone card at the airport?

If your phone is unlocked (i.e. not tied to a particular cell service provider, like AT&T), I'd get a local VN sim card. Incoming calls should be free, and outgoing will be much cheaper than using your "home" service. Skype and VoIP are fine, but you have to be at a computer to use them.

it's easy to buy Vietnamese sim card in Vietnam, It just costs you about 60,000 VND to buy one sim, and it has 200,000 VND credit

lanphuong, is any one cell phone carrier better than another in VN (if I want to get a local sim when I arrive, should I be picky)?
