Cabbages and Condoms a treat

I'm not sure if you're still looking for feedback on Bangkok restaurants but Cabbages and Condoms, a traditonal Thai restaurant with a beautiful garden, is a treat. It fund-raises for birth-control programs. Please don't be put off by the name.
A beautiful Thai restaurant, recommended by the concierge at our hotel, is Baan Kahanitha, 3/1 Sukhumvit, 23, Soi Prasan. The Fodors Thailand review is right on from the art-filled walls to the delicious free appetizer mieng khum. It's lemony leaves you can can fold and fill with bite-size shrimp, onions, lime, etc. and sauce.

Hi!

We went to a few of these restaurants while in Thailand. The food was great, but so is the cause. Check out the "mint" tray on the way out -
it had two bowls full of condoms - one says "Thai size" ans the other "Western"
We took a picture - thought it was funny.

I heartily agree. I too was a bit put off by the name, but it proved to be a fantasic (as well as cheap) restaurant. A friend & I each had an appitizer and entree for dinner which came in big portions and the bill was 510 baht/$12.75 or about $6.50 each. We ate upstairs overlooking the light filled garden on the outside porch. I am sure there are much more elegant (and expensive) restaurants in Bangkok, but for the sheer experience, I'd vote for Cabbages & Condoms.
PS-I also had a great lunch at Mango Tree near the Patong district!

It is good but I think it's mostly for tourists. My friend from Bangkok had never heard of it!
