buying silk in Bangkok?

Other than the Jim Thompson House, can anyone suggest where to buy fine quality silk in Bangkok?

any of the fabric shops of which there are many, also:

anita silk on silom road
sinwatra silk on soi 23, sukhumvit road
alenta silk on soi 23 also

many of the tailors and seamstresses also sell by the yard

many toruist shops also sell silk but i would be careful there...

the jim thompson outlets on suriwong (not the main store) and soi 93 sukhumvit have fantastic discounts

there are many places....also some of the markets sell silk...it is every place

Go to Amarin Plaza shopping center at the Chitlom skytrain station. There are a lot of fabric stores in there along with a second branch of the Naryaphand Thai craft store and other craft stores...so you can knock out many birds with one stone. Happy Travels!

I second Bob's Almeta suggestion - their website www.almeta.com will give you an idea. Amazing colours and ply, IMO better quality than JimT but pricier too. Narai Phand is a good suggestion too - go to the main store which is just below the Gaysorn Plaza mall. Bob's other suggestion should read Shinawatra - it's around the corner from Almeta.
