how do you know that anything is asia is "genuine"???
|
How do you know anything in America is genuine?
|
Hanuman %rhkkmk; The only way you know is by going to 2 large optical perveyors in NYC and ask their professional opinion considering they carried large line of S,Dupont frames which is what I did. It was convenient because i was going to have one of them make upo the lenses and when you order Verilux progressive it turned out they cost more than the frames I purchased. That's how I know they are genuine as determined by professionals. I could have just as easiy goten stock but the conceige at the Peninsula told me they were a highly reputable chain of stores. That's how I know. It sounds like you may have wanted me to get stuck but fortunateky i was not.

Stan:
Let's get back to talking about TRAVEL. That's what this Forum is all about. Let's not use up "air time" on other unrelated topics, please. |
Yes I agree NO MORE NON TRAVEL chit chat please!
|
lol lol lol

Someone claiming to be dogster typed: How do you know anything in America is genuine?
How do we know that you are actually dogster, and not an impostor? |
I was ther first on 9/29 @ 9:51 suggesting we get back to talking travel but then the cheap shots started. I agree again on 10/1 @ 10:01EST let's talk travel.
Has anone heard of the possibility that Thai Air will reinstate non-stop service from JFK to BK. I realize travel is down because of the issues BK has for several months plus our own economy limiting travel but that flight would help encourage some but maybe not enough more tourists. They could try it 2 days a week. might a writing campain help? |
Stan: what on earth does this have to do with buying progressive eyeglasses in Asia?
|
You must be from the future Stan it's only 7/31 here at the moment. PS. time clock on Fodors is only relative to where you're at. Your 9/29 @ 9:51 is different for other people not in the same time space conundrum.
|
dogster he's from the future! Therefor TIME TRAVEL!
|
maybe he meant the 29th month and 9th day??
|
OK stop the confusion and just use "stardate" from now on, you know like in Star Trek.
|
Right at this minute the stardate time is: -312419.4810692543
|
I insist that the discussion returns to the proper topic.
(Or should it be, "...that the discussion return to..."?) |
Go ahead and use "air time". I am signing off.

neo has just received 2nd sight so he no longer needs any glasses...

To the OP. If you're looking for rimless frames, make sure they come with press lock fitting rather than the screw type, less maintenance. Something like the Silhouette minimal art design. IMO those are the best rimless frames. And you get them in Asia for much cheaper.
For the lenses, if you make sure to buy the progressives from brands like Essilor (who make Varilux), Zeiss, Hoya, Nikon, etc, and if you make sure they measure your PD and make the optical centers correctly, you'll be fine. |
Hmmm, on the topic of progressive lenses in Asia, I bought 2 pair in Hanoi. I walked down one of the main shopping streets and began to compare selection, prices and professionalism. They "read" my current prescription off my glasses ( also brought along a copy of the Rx) and had them ready in 36 hours. Sorry I did not take note of the name of the optical shop.
|
NeoPatrick, I just bought a nice Japanese titanium frame from a government optical place in Nanjing Road, Shanghai, with 20% discount, for about $60US. With progressive lenses, the discount would have been 50%. Going towards the Bund from No1 Department store, the shop is on the right, a few hundred yards dowm. They had quite a lot to chose from. Good luck!
