Bus/Train details?
Hi folks. I am going to Todai in Tokyo for about a week, coming from America. I plan to arrive at the Haneda Airport and will take the public transit to Todai.
This is my first time traveling so I was wondering - are the district names on the map there listed in kanji/hiragana only? Or would the names be also printed in English? Like for example, the map on their public transit or pamphlet. |
Are you headed to Komaba campus of the University of Tokyo?
Generally, you can find a map at the station that has station names in English. You should find such a map at Haneda. |
japan-guide.com has a lot of good info, like this:

If it is the university then it looks like you want Todaimae or Kobama-Todaime station. You can google those station names. The wikipedia for the latter has exit info.

I'm sorry - I meant Taito, not Todai. Also am arriving at Narita Airport now instead of Haneda.
|
Each subway line in Tokyo has a letter assigned, and each station on that line a number.
|
Then, according to hyperdia, you can take JR local lines:
JR Sobu/Narita Line (rapid train) to Chiba connecting to JR Sotobo Line to Taito. 2 hr 20 min or less, 1450 JPY. |
Those are directions to Taito station. Taito is Tokyo ward, so a different station might be better for your destination. Taking an airport limo bus is an option and pretty easy to do. Have the full address available to show at the info counter. If you can find and print out the adress in Japanese it wouldn't hurt.
