Since you have only 5 days I would suggest Cambodia. To do Burma properly you would need more time. Spend 3 nights in Siem Reap visiting the temples of Angkor Wat. Then either fly or take the boat to Phnom Penh for one night. The cost of flying from Bangkok to SR is outragious around 320US. It might be better to fly to PP then on to SR and return by boat.

My family and I just returned from 3 wks in Thailand and 4 days in Cambodia. Those 4 days in Cambodia turned out to be everyone's favorite part of the trip. The temples, especially Banteay Srei, a small temple made of pink sandstone, were amazing and the people were interesting. We stayed in the European Guesthouse in Siem Reap, which cost $6/night. It was a wonderful place; Ian, the English man who owns and runs the place with his Cambodian wife, provided insights into Cambodia and helped us figure out where to go besides Angkor Wat. Also, it was very clean and comfortable.

Hi macarena....
i think for 5 days it´s better to go to cambodia (siam reap). for burma you need more time and (i don´t know it´s still the same) you have to chance 300 us dollar at the border to go in. i was there in 1994 and i must chance 300 us in a special forenger current(?). but both - burma and cambodia is very nice. what´s up with laos...luang prabang???
have a nice trip. dani

If you buy a tour - even the shortest one - you do not have to change dollars for FEC upon entry to Myanmar. But your visa must be stamped when issued stating that you are on a tour.

You might look at CircleOfAsia.com for tours to angkor wat from Thailand. They seem to do tours or piece by piece.
