Really two days or so before should be fine, but if you want to be sure, there is no harm in sending an e-mail in December if you wanted. Just tell them the hotel you will be staying at so they can use that for the confirmation. They have tables out near the pool that I think are nice, and in winter they put charcoal braziers out by them for warmth and I think the whole atmosphere out these is quite charming, if those interest you, you might want to book those earlier. You can’t see the kitchen so easily from these, so in any event, do ask to be taken in to the kitchen and see the clay tandoor ovens.

If you had not come accross this restaurant in your readings on Delhi then you have not done enough reading on Delhi IMO to be ready for a trip there. I wonder what else you don't know about ...really it is probably one of the top 2-3 restaurants in Delhi and has been for many years. Everyone from Bill Clinton to Bill Gates has been there.
