Bridge Over River Kwai

We will be in Bangkok for only 4 days and we are thinking of taking a day excursion to the Bridge over River Kwai and to the klongs of Dammasuke. Has anyone done this excursion and do you feel it is worth the time. We have all of the other Bangkok attractions covered in our visit. Please email me directly, if possible. [email protected] Thanks

If you want to do The River Kwai (Katchanaburi) and the Floating Market (Damnun Saduak the same day, start with the floating market, as you need to be there VERY early (6am).
Botyh places are worthwhile. If you go to the iver Kwai , do not forget to visit Buddha's cove and the graveyards
Guy
www.travelish.com

I took the tour out of Bangkok two years ago when I was there and it was very interesting. We went to visit a recreation of the huts the workers lived in, the bridge, and then to one of the grave sites of the workers. After this we went into the hills toward the border and ate lunch. After lunch we took the train over the original railroad back, across the bridge, and into Kanchaniburi. One of the things we saw by going into the hills were the places where they had to suspend prisoners on ropes over cliffs in order to build the railroad. I would recommend the tour.

Absolutely do this. The trip on the railroad is a must, as is the visit to the camp where the workers lived. I went Feb. 2000 with Grand Circle and it was a truly wonderful trip.
