BOSTON GTG 2012--RESERVATIONS
Hello all. Attached is the outline for our week-end GTG in greater Boston the week-end of October 5, 2012.
We have lots of fun, learn more about travel, celebrate and promote Fodors.com, eat some good food and gossip about all those who are not present--better be there to avoid being talked about---Dogster, Amy and the like.. You do not need to attend every event or stay at the Residence Inn---join us at one or all venues. This post becomes the new official GTG posting superceding the earlier one. Hope to meet and greet you all.. Bob and Karen It’s time to get cracking on the 2012 BOSTON GTG. The dates are October 5-7, 2012. Our headquarters will be the Marriott Residence Inn in Norwood, MA 02062. The actual GTG will take place Saturday commencing at 11AM at Olivadi Restaurant; 32 Guild St; Norwood, MA 02062; Tel: 781-762-9090. The Marriott is offering us a special rate of $101.+ per night. Call them at 800-331-3131 to make a res identifying yourself as part of the fodors travel group. Deadline for this rate is 9/4/12. After that time the rate may no longer be available. Friday night the Kimball’s (rhkkmk) will be hosting a home-cooked meal (think filet of beef, shrimp and artichokes, special potatoes and more). We hope we can all squeeze into our old NE house. Fodorites are welcome to arrive at 9 Ridgeway Ave; Needham, MA 02492 (781-449-0903) commencing at 6PM. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine. Dinner will be served about 7:15. To defray our costs we are asking each person to contribute $20. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! Saturday the doors at Olivadi open about 11AM. There is plenty of free parking BEHIND the restaurant (do not park in the small lot next to the restaurant—residents only). The Norwood commuter rail stop is near-by. We will have our regular gab fest prior to lunch being served at 1PM. The luncheon consists of salad, entrée and dessert, plus coffee and tea. There will be a choice of three plated Italian meals for lunch, plus a veggie option—see below.. We expect the inclusive price to hover around $35 per person, depending on the number of participants and the final bill---cash only. There will be a cash bar as usual. Saturday evening we will be returning to the Similan Restaurant 145 First St; Cambridge, MA 02142 at 7PM for a Thai dinner. Street parking or a garage at the mall down the road. The food and atmosphere there assure us of an enjoyable end to our weekend. As usual we will divide the check by the number of participants. DEADLINE for reservations this year will be September 18, 2012. I would of course appreciate hearing in advance of that date from as many of you as possible at: [email protected] Please be careful to indicate the number in your party, and your preference of meal (see list below) for Saturday luncheon, as well as your attendance at Friday and Saturday evening meals. Chicken Picatta with asparagus risotto Tagliatelle alla Bolognese with meat ragu Pistachio and Horseradish encrusted Salmon with roasted potatoes and seasonal Veggies Veggie option: Pasta primavera with sauce Bob and Karen (rhkkmk) 781-449-0903 [email protected] |

Hi Bob,
I need to talk to lucy about her schedule but so far I am planning on coming Sat/Sun. See you! Nanabee |
perfect
|
Yea, nanabee!!
|
Of course Eric and I will be there for all the festivities, unless we hit that horrendous Boston traffic that tied us up last time, causing us to miss cocktails at Don's :-( We'll spend less time at the Coach store this time. I'll just have to spend the money faster!
Looking forward to seeing everyone, and meeting new people! nanabee, great that you can come again. And I read that Mr. lcuy may make an appearance, and mr and ms_go. I'm excited! |
quite a few new people..
|
OK, AS PART OF OUR LITTLE INTRODUCTIONS AS WE GO AROUND THE ROOM WE HAVE SELECTED THIS TOPIC FROM LCUY'S LIST:
each of us will speak BRIEFLY (may not even need description) of each one of the following: our favorite hotel the best meal--place and food the most enjoyable tour (visit) of a place the most memorable event (fireworks, circus, sighting, etc) write them down so you won't forget i'm having trouble limiting it to one for each DON'T FORGET....DO IT TODAY |
LAURIE---STOP AT MALL ON YOUR WAY HOME---WE DON'T MIND SEEING YOU WITH YOUR 2009 BAG OR 2005 BAG OR EVEN 1997 BAG...
then you can be to my house on time... you don't have to go into boston at all until sat. nite.. get out that GPS now and set it for 9 ridgeway avenue, needham, ma 02492 (my house) and for 32 guild road, norwood, ma 02062 (for sat GTG); and 275 norwood park south, norwood, ma 02062 (hotel)-- right off of rte 1 south which is off of rte 95 (128) south from Mass Pike exit at weston, ma... |
My 2009 bag? Horrors! My 1997 bag may be considered vintage however....
|
laurieco....lol I'm glad you and Eric are coming once again! I look forward to your 'travel stories' although the outline above may make it a little more difficult to toss in humor! We'll see!
|
laurie, 1997 is not vintage...1967 is vintage
|
Now Bob, I've got a Louis Vuitton from 1982 that is considered vintage. Handbags are different than other fashion items! And yes, Laurie, it doesn't matter WHAT Coach bag you are sporting. It's YOU (and Eric) we want to see...
|
well mostly eric if true be known..
|
That's your edition of the truth, Einstein.
When you and Karen are invited places, you're probably under the impression people want to see you. Some things never change! BC |
they may not want to SEE me but certainly they want to chat with me..
E |
