Boracay Island, Philippines
Hi all,
Just to share my pseudo-trip report on a short trip to Boracay Island, Philippines, which was named #1 Best Overall in Asia in Travel+ Leaisure’s World’s Best Awards 2012.
I say pseudo because DH and I really just spent most of our time lazing on the beach front of the hotel we stayed in, Discovery Shores (ranked #1 Hotel Spa in Asia by the same), so please don't expect much action-filled activities. But I do have a lot of entries (too much, when I think about it! ) about Discovery Shores, so at least those of you who are thinking of staying there can get a good idea what it's like.
Just go to my blog http://thekatzpajamas.wordpress.com/...y-philippines/. Feel free to comment there, or here. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.
You can tell I really enjoyed our lazy weekend.

It's nice to see the beauty of Boracay after 5 years in your article. Yes Boracay is awesome but too crowded and so noisy in summer time like summer of 2008 when I last saw it. Have you tried some water sports there? I only tried the banana boat. I am sure will also comeback there one time to try some other sports activities with my husband. Thanks for sharing!

Boracay tends to do that to you - you'd just want to laze on the beach all day. That's exactly what I did the first time I went last year, and I'll be going back on December to do exactly the same. LOL
Did you try the seafoods at D'Mall?

Is there something similar to Boracay that is just not that overrun? Like Boracay 10 years ago? There are like 10000 islands in that country, there must be another pretty one without that many tourist, right?

I thought I would be lazing around on the beach. Prior to booking my trip. I stayed for 7 nights and 8 FULL days. Departing in the late evening. I only had time to laze around for half a day. If your doing basically every single activity like I did. There simply isn't enough time. Especially if it's your first time

Devang,
The Philippines has the best beaches in the world!! Boracay has been in the news a lot lately, so that would be an obvious choice. Great for a young couple, because aside from the beautiful beach, there are clubs and bars along the beach strip. For the ultimate honeymoon experience, stay in Discovery Shores http://www.discoveryshoresboracay.com/. My husband and I stayed there for our anniversary, and the service, hotel, and location (fabulous beach front!) were perfect.
If you want a quieter alternative, try the island of Bohol, who has a beautiful beach as well, but is a little more sedate.
For an all out splurge, you can always stay in Aman Pulo or El Nido (Pangalusian resort) in Palaway. I understand the likes of Brad Pitt stay there.
Take note though that June is in the middle of our rainy season!
