booking trip to Thailand from Hong Kong

Hi,

We are thinking of going to Thailand for one week this year, but will first spend a week in Hong Kong. I'm wondering whether it may be easier or cheaper to book the trip to Thailand once we arrive in Hong Kong, rather than booking everything from Canada. Has anyone tried that?

We were looking to have a similar itinerary except from San Francisco. There are many tour agencies in Hong Kong that book travel to Thailand but I'm finding that majority of them are spoken in Chinese. I was able to find a great deal on Cathay Pacific stopping in Hong Kong both before and after Thailand. I want to focus on the Thailand portion of our trip and didn't want to take any chances on waiting until our arrival in Hong Kong. We will book our nites in hotel separately through asia-hotels.com. Good luck!

I believe Cathay Pacific's All Asia Pass will suit your travel plan the most. It allows you to stopover in Hong Kong and connect to other Asian cities.

Just thought I would share my findings with everyone, in case anyone wants to do the same thing. I found a cheap package on the Cathay Pacific website for three nights/four days in Bangkok, staying at the Peninsula Hotel for HK$2930 per person per package (double occ), which works out to about US$376 per person, this includes airfare on Cathay Pacific from HKG to BKK! The link is http://www.cathaypacific.com/chl/eng/promotions/0,,77272_84366_eng,00.html

Good luck.

that is a very good deal...the penn alone is a minimum of $160 per nite in their cheapest room, and believe me you won't ever stay in a nicer place...we've stayed there twice in the last two years and my wife loves it...try their jesters restaurant....the breakfast is excellent as well...we love having our hair cut there...it comes with a thai head massage....
