Booking on the fly
I am spending 4 weeks in India. I have only booked accommodations for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Will I find it easy to book places as I go through the country? Will eventually be ending up in the south.

What time of year are you going? What types of places do you like to stay in?
Our typical trips to India have been six weeks; I book the first half ahead of time and then wing it a we go for the rest of the trip. We have never had a problem. |
As long as you aren't absolutely committed to staying in a particular place you should have no problem. I've frequently made changes to my itineraries and have only found an occasional first choice booked up.

Easy enough if you have internet access, and depending, as the previous posters correctly points out, on the time of the year and how flexible you are. There were a couple of times when my first choice was sold out, both times because of weddings at the hotels - large blocks of rooms were completely booked for wedding guests.

I am there July 30- August 26. I'm thinking that is low season as it is quite warm. I like a nice place. Good bed, a shower and a flushing toilet. Price is not really an issue but it is. I can afford decent

You may face some difficulties, so it is better to get some knowledge about the place before going there.

During the monsoons is low season, but it becomes more important to stay in a better hotel to avoid dampness, mold, and bugs. Since it is low season you should be able to find availability with better prices in the higher end hotels.
