It's a Fodor's thing: the link should be ALL of that gobbledygook. If you scoop it ALL up, copy and paste onto your line - voila! itinerary.

Basically, it's a lot of sea days with the occasional port.

If the link doesn't work just click in Azamara Quest, April 7 2009, Singapore on the appropriate lines on the home page and poke around. While you're there - check out the menus in the fine dining places.

This one sounds like it will be ok.

Ah! I see it now. Yes, lots of days at sea. You should be fully rested by the time to get to Alexandria!

marya_ Feb 16th, 2009 11:22 AM

More best wishes for a great adventure. Bon voyage. Hoping to read commentary with your trademark insightfulness and wit.

"the receptionist in the Club Lounge actually knelt on the floor at my feet, her little head disappearing in a deep bow before emerging again, a little flushed, to take my credit card details"

She knew it was the dogster, obviously

Jaya Feb 16th, 2009 12:55 PM

Hopefully there won't be pompous women wearing muumuus on this cruise! :D

thursdaysd Feb 16th, 2009 01:08 PM

"For under $100 a day I'll put up with almost anything." - like Kathie, my memory of previous dogster sagas leads me to regard this statement with the deepest skepticism. Not b***** likely!

Marija Feb 16th, 2009 01:37 PM

Time to make predictions as to when the dogster will paddle ashore. I'll go first: he won't make it out of Singapore. There are twenty four days (including 6 uninterrupted days at sea). Look at the itinerary and pick a day! Here's hoping dogster will be gracious enough to award the winning entrant an autographed picture.

thursdaysd Feb 16th, 2009 02:00 PM

Nice thought, Marija! Since you've already bagged the first port I'll take Cochin - it's certainly where I'd jump ship - I loved it there - and you'd miss all those boring days at sea after Mumbai.

Gpanda Feb 16th, 2009 02:01 PM

Does the ship have a brig? If he makes it out of Singapore, this is his most likely placement. WE anxiously await the most minute details.

Kathie Feb 16th, 2009 03:21 PM

I'll guess Mumbai. I can't see him jumping ship at Dubai.

Jaya Feb 16th, 2009 03:54 PM

Dogster, can't you just feel the love? I guess this is as close as cyberspace can get to seeing you off at the airport!

dogster Feb 16th, 2009 04:39 PM

Indeed I do Jaya, and bless you in particular for thinking of me and starting the whole thing off.

My self-obsessed pals wouldn't have the faintest idea when I'm going, where I'm going, how, what, who...? If it's not about them, it ain't on the radar.

'Oh, he's off again,' they say.

'Where?'

'Don't really know. Never heard of it. India, somewhere.'

'Will he come back?'

'Don't know...'

So it's a lot nicer than you think when a whole lotta people wish you 'Bon Voyage!'

Yup, I can feel the lu-r-ve.

Have a fantastic time and be a good doggy (but not so good you don't have some fun stories to share). ;-)

leonf Feb 17th, 2009 11:12 PM

Thali days are here again...askoksena I'd suggest N Young 'are you ready for the weekend because it's time to go', but good thought. As a recent student of the dog ouevre (whew) I know you'll make it all the way on the paddle steamer but, if you've been to Egypt 3 times, spring in Greece (not Athens necessarily) in some gorgeous part will always bring calm & perspective, remember Henry Miller, not always known for his calm & perpspective. Anyway lets not worry about the last bit, it's the first catatonic splurges I'm interested to hear about. Vaya con dios.

dogster Feb 18th, 2009 08:48 AM

leon's right. I have something telling me not to book anything after that cruise. If some form of inner catastrophy occurs, Kathie will get the prize. It'll be Mumbai. Ain't nothing about Dubai that appeals.

Ahhh Leon, I remember reading Henry Miller as a seventeen year old, with a glass of cask red wine and a bowl of spaghetti bolognese. I thought I was being very sophisticated. lol lol lol.

More to the point - today's the day! Woo hoo. If I survive. It's 5.00 a.m. now - my flight leaves just after midnight. Gonna be a long day.

Marija Feb 18th, 2009 09:14 AM

And it's gonna be a long dull three months here without dogster. Take some of that money you saved by booking that cheap cruise and spend it for internet access to amuse the fodorites back home!

dogster Feb 18th, 2009 09:21 AM

Nah, you won't lose me Marija. I'm in a sharing mood. There'll be a Live from Kolkata post up in a minute. It's a useful discipline for me; blogging gets the words down - I can shape them later.

I've just finished turning all the last lot into literature. Well, what I call literature. Thousands would beg to differ.
I have 21 stories. So now it's time to go looking for the next 21.

dogster Feb 18th, 2009 09:12 PM

Altho' - until the Forums settle down I don't think it's worth posting. I ain't writing nuttin' if it's just gonna disappear to Page two oblivion after a couple hours.

Kristina Feb 18th, 2009 09:34 PM

Dogster, did you finish your Blurb book?? Are you at least going to share the preview with us? I'm itching to make another book, just haven't had the time.
I'm glad you're going to post from the road. :-)
