Has anyone ever done this boat tour. I was just looking for something I could do one day just for a few hours and it says it runs from like 9:30 am to 3:00 pm?

The usual river ferry is better. Just hop on at the pier, pay when the attendant approaches and hop off when you get to your destination. The piers are numbered. This is one of the treats of BKK.

Gpanda do you know anything about this tour? I will be solo this time so I'm just looking for more tour type things I can do

Although we had used the regular river taxis many times, we decided to try the tourist boat during our trip this past October. The commentary was in English, but it was extremely difficult to understand what the guide was saying. I had to give him a lot of credit for trying, but we would have been just as well off taking a regular boat.

One advantage of the tourist boat is the hop-on hop-off feature -- if you don't mind having a brightly colored sticker on your chest all day, instantly identifying you as a tourist to all the local touts.

Another advantage, the tourist boat is filled with other English-speaking tourists. As a solo traveler, this might give you a chance to meet some other people.

But really, as I think about it, I have to agree with Gpanda and recommend the regular river taxis.

The daily tourist boat is more comfortable, less crowded and easier to get on or off than the regular ferries. The day-long pass that allowed you to embark, disembark at any point along the route (there are 13 pier stops) or change boats any number of time. You can get off the boat at Point A, visit the attractions there and use the same pass to proceed to Point B by another boat, and so forth. There is a tour guide providing some basic information in both english and thai (yes the thais use this ferry also) and passengers are provided with a bottle of water and a 28-page colour guide book with fold-out map. Compared to the cost of just a couple of trips on the regular boats, its rather expensive at 100 baht but is worth the comfort and convenience. It is also a nice way to see the sights along the river for about an hour without even getting off.

I don't remember having a brightly colored sticker to put on unless this is referring to the special Sat/Sun tour or the daily tour here
