BKK to Langkawi?
 

Are there direct flights from BKK to Langkawi? What is the best way to get there. Also do you know how long the flights are? THANKS! Mary

Air Asia talked about it, but I don't think they ever started the service. You can fly to Penang (about 1.5 hours) and then fly to Langkawi (30 min.?) or take the boat (2 hours) from there.

You could also check the cost of BKK - KUL - LGX on Air Asia. It may be the cheapest route if not the quickest. BKK to KL is just under 2 hours, and KL to Langkawi should be around 1 hour.

If you want to make it in a day using discount carrier Air Asia you will have to take the morning flight from BKK to KUL and then the afternoon one to LGK. Cost if booked a couple of months in advance is around 2520 baht ($65) and 85 ringgets ($23) respectively.
You can also fly to Penang but this will require an overnight stay as there is only one daily ferry at 8.30am.

Things may have changed, but last time I was there, they had sevral ferries a day between Penanag and Langkawi.

Anyway, there are worse things than spending a night in Penang!
