BKK Restaurant Question

We will be in BKK from Jan16 thru 29th. I’m trying to line up our restaurants. We will be staying at the Plaza Athenee. We want to try Baan Khanitha- there are 2 locations- one on Soi 23, Sukhumvit and one on South Sathorn Road.

Which one has the nicest ambiance? Which one is closest to the hotel? I assume the menu is the same for both?

The Soi 23 location is closest by skytrain. The South Sathorn location is closest by taxi and is also likely the closest by the amount of time it takes to get there (straight down Wireless to South Sathorn).

Thanks! The South Sathorn location seems to have the better ambiance as well.

Bill, I walked past the Plaza today, as I was along Wireless Rd. It is closer to the skytrain than I had remembered it to be.

Is the Sathorn location of the restaurant close to the subway station at Lumpini?

we will be taking taxis from the hotel

The Sathorn branch is newer and more grander in my opinion.

The Sathorn branch is at the mouth of Soi Suan Plu (where Shinawatra Thai silk used to be). Sathorn can get very jammed in both directions during rush hour.

Hi

I have tried the one at Soi 23 and the food was excellent - now I'm tempted to try the other one as well :-) My wife and I are also staying at the Plaza Atheene soon - we have actually stayed there before but that was just for a night. Well, if you haven't been to Bangkok before you might find some useful info in my Bangkok trip report on http://gardkarlsen.com/Bangkok_trip_report_2007.htm . Get in touch if you have any questions :-)

Regards
Gard
